The consultation on the revised and updated masterplan for the cathedral is now open: Full details including an online version of the masterplan document are available from Wiltshire Council (the document is also republished here). A public exhibition is also being held on 28 September at the Guild Hall.

In 2008, Salisbury Cathedral produced a masterplan entitled Faith in the Future in consultation with its partners. This plan showed how the cathedral’s objectives and needs could be met, managing change for the cathedral and its landscape.

The cathedral has developed a new revised masterplan entitled ‘An Exceptional Place’. The revised masterplan sets out the Cathedral’s long term vision and objectives, contains a range of proposals for the cathedral and the Close and details the planning considerations that will need to be addressed.

The cathedral has already carried out extensive consultation on the revised masterplan, which took place between late June and the end of December 2015.

Wiltshire Council is now undertaking formal consultation on the revised masterplan . The period for submitting representations relating to the masterplan begins at 9am Monday 19 September 2016 and lasts for six weeks, closing at 5pm on Friday 28 October. Representations received beyond this date may not be considered.
